INDIANAPOLIS – According to a recent survey conducted by enVista, a global software and consulting services firm, optimizing and transforming physical and digital commerce, many retailers are focused on increasing and/or piloting dropship programs in the next year.
According to enVista’s 2020 Customer Engagement Survey (premiering at NRF), 32% of retailers plan to increase dropship offerings and another 18% plan to pilot a dropship programme this year. Competing against Amazon and other retailers with extensive product offerings is driving more retailers to offer dropship services from their trading partners. The end result is broader product offerings, increased customer satisfaction and revenues and reduced inventory carrying and shipping costs.
Dropship programs allow retailers to quickly launch or test new products to expand item catalogueueues, which results in increased revenues. The enVista Dropship solution drives faster response times to vendors and improves speed to market, onboarding vendors in weeks, not months. Both retailers and manufacturers enjoy the benefits from dropship programs, as it expands product portfolios and improves conversion rates.
enVista CEO Jim Barnes said, “Dropship is a very compelling proposition and many retailers are realizing significant benefits from the service. With relatively low costs and risks to initiate a dropship programme and implementation times that average 60-90 days, there is a fast return on investment (ROI). Dropship is one of the highest growth areas of our business and our research supports the trend we are seeing in the industry.”
