Example 3: MWCold

Merchandise Warehouse Cold (MWCold) is a third-party warehousing company based in Indiana, specializing in the food, pharmaceutical and manufacturing industries. MWCold faced difficulties due to multiple data sources lacking standardization, making it challenging to obtain a comprehensive view of warehouse productivity and customer profitability. The company’s primary goal was to establish near real-time reporting capabilities to enhance decision-making and gain a more accurate understanding of its operations.

Leveraging data from MWCold’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, warehouse management system (WMS), timekeeping system, badging system and other data stored within SharePoint, enVista transformed the data for accurate reporting. A data warehouse in SQL Server was created, with Power BI used to extract and visualize data for generating insights. The data warehouse provided daily snapshots of inventory, work type and work hours, offering visibility into team members’ and vendors’ performance.

Unified Data: enVista consolidated ERP, WMS, timekeeping and other data into a SQL server-based warehouse, simplifying productivity and profitability analysis.

Real-time Insights: Timely reporting was provided MWCold with accurate data for informed decisions.  In-depth insights encompassed operations, productivity, customer activity and financials, even down to storage profitability.

Performance Tracking: Daily snapshots of inventory and work data enabled effective team and vendor performance monitoring.

Efficient Power BI Reporting: MWCold streamlined the identification of high/low performers, customized reports and labor management.

This near real-time insight into the operations and financials of its business enable MWCold to make informed decisions based on what is occurring in near real time, while also significantly reducing the time required to analyze and produce statements for the executive team.
